William C. Scott
Co-Founder and CEO

In addition to his private practice in Santa Monica, Bill has been recognized with the following accomplishments in the field of EEG biofeedback:

  • Yielding a 77% success rate as principal investigator of the largest randomized controlled trial in his field; this study was published in The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
  • Yielding an unprecedented 79% success rate with Native American alcoholics as principal investigator and first author of an addiction research project, inclusive of collaboration with Dr. Eugene Peniston. The Psychiatric Times published a feature article interviewing Bill.
  • Presenting at the American Psychiatric Association’s annual conference the results of a large controlled study (n=121) on poly drug abusers at CRI-Help.
  • Contributing a chapter on alpha-theta EEG biofeedback in Jim Robbins’ book, “A Symphony in the Brain” and has been published in the January 2000 issue of Clinical Electroencephalography (EEG), an official journal of the EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society (ECNS).
  • Teaching over 3,000 EEG biofeedback practitioners around the globe since 1996.
  • Co-authoring Dr. Eugene Peniston's 10-year follow-up to Peniston's first alcoholism study.
  • Improving the musical acumen of students at the Royal Conservatoire – the results of the research project has since been incorporated in the school’s mandatory curriculum.
  • Contributing to the efforts of Narcotics Division of the American Embassy in South America with the intention of replicating the use of successful protocols in Latin America.

Cora Scott
Co-Founder and President

Prior to Co-Founding BrainPaint with Bill, Cora had a distinguished career in internet security at technology companies such as IBM Corporation, Symantec, Pilot Network Services and NetSec. The latter two companies gave her invaluable experience growing small companies with excellent technology into large publicly traded companies either through an IPO or acquisition. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and Business Administration at the State University of New York in Albany.

Thomas M. Brod, M.D.
Medical Advisory Board

Thomas M. Brod, M.D. graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (English), and received his medical degree from the University of Southern California. After serving in the Indian Health Service of the U.S. Public Health Service, he was selected into the National Institute of Mental Health Career Development Program, and was sponsored by NIMH during his residency and fellowship at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute (Psychiatry). Trained in classical and contemporary psychoanalytic models, and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, Dr. Brod is a graduate of the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Brod is a Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA. Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Sr. Fellow of the Biofeedback Certifying Institute of America, and he maintains professional membership in national and local societies for medicine, psychiatry, psychoanalysis, hypnosis, biofeedback and neurofeedback .

David Dubin, M.D.
Medical Advisory Board

David Dubin, MD, graduated from the University of Michigan (psychology) and received his MD degree from New Jersey Medical School - University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Dubin worked as an emergency room physician for more than ten years, primarily in Boston, where he was an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Boston University. For the last ten years he has worked primarily as a health care consultant, but has also trained in psychology (Hakomi) and neurofeedback. He has also taught meditation at Reed College.
